What else you should know:

Contractual information is available in the terms and conditions of use and can be consulted when submitting your order.

We do not perform or in any way support ear or tail docking practices. We respect our commitment to animal welfare and promote the breeding and care of animals in accordance with animal welfare rules and legislation.

You can choose this preference on the order form in the Vaccination section, where you will find the option "Export Ready". To travel to the European Union, pets need a passport. This can be issued by your veterinarian from the age of 3 months, once the rabies vaccination has been carried out. If you choose delivery to a country other than Romania, the puppy will be shipped after 3 months and 3 weeks of age, at which point it will be vaccinated against rabies, microchipped and will have an international passport.

If you would like your puppy to be accompanied by a Pedigree certificate, please select the appropriate option when placing your order. This document certifies the pedigree of the dog and the authenticity of the breed, and is issued by specialized organizations. We recommend that you consider this option if you want to participate in dog shows or have the guarantee of a pure genetic line.

Transportation in Romania

Puppies can be transported to the client's city, depending on the availability of our routes. If delivery cannot be made to a specific city, this will be communicated in advance to find an optimal solution for the puppy's delivery.
Currently, direct delivery to the customer's address is not possible.

International transport

If you opt for delivery outside Romania, the puppy can only be shipped after the age of 3 months and 3 weeks, at which time it will be vaccinated against rabies, microchipped and will have an international passport. Be sure to choose the Ready for Export option in the Vaccination section when submitting your order.
If transportation cannot be made to the customer's city, this will be communicated in advance in order to identify a convenient delivery solution.
We do not currently offer transportation to the exact address of the customer.

Countries and cities served

Transportation is currently available to the following international destinations:

  • Hungary: Budapest, Gyor
  • Austria: Vienna, Linz
  • BelgiumBrussels
  • Czech Republic
  • Denmark
  • Switzerland
  • Germany: Passau, München, Nürnberg, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Köln
  • Italy: Padua, Verona, Milan, Bologna, Florence, Rome
  • Moldova: Chisinau
  • Netherlands: Eindhoven, Breda

If you have questions about transportation or other destinations, please contact us for more information.

We deliver our puppies as soon as possible, but never before the minimum age of 8 weeks, which may vary by breed. Although we want to get your puppy to you as soon as possible, it is essential to respect this interval, both for the puppy's sake and for your own comfort. Premature separation can make care and adaptation considerably more difficult or even jeopardize the puppy's health.

The estimated time to delivery, shown on each breed's page, may be influenced by your preference of sex, size, color or vaccination schedule. For this reason, please take it as a guide. During the selection process, we will keep you up to date with updated information.

For pedigree puppies, identification and verification may take up to 3 months, depending on national availability at the time of order. If you decline a proposal on a puppy, the order remains active and the identification process continues and we will come back with alternatives. In this situation, the delivery time will be extended by the estimated period specified on the page of the breed ordered.

Internal deworming is an essential process in the first months of a puppy's life and is rigorously carried out before each vaccination to eliminate intestinal parasites and pathogens such as Giardia. This can be carried out either by the veterinarian or the breeder, depending on the situation.

We recommend that both internal and external de-worming be carried out within the first week of your puppy's arrival to ensure complete parasite elimination and proper preparation for the next vaccine according to the vaccination schedule. External deworming is indicated immediately after the first bath, followed by a period of 24 hours during which direct contact with the treated area should be avoided.

We are glad to see that you are thinking about training, as it is very important. Puppies are not generally trained before leaving, it is up to the breeder what education they choose to provide the puppy.
However, if you want specific training, this can be done after 4-5 months of age.
All puppies need proper training from their owner upon arrival. If you don't want to hire a trainer, there are several resources that can be found online to help you.

Puppy health is our top priority! We inspect puppies at the owner's location from the time of booking to the time of delivery to ensure they are healthy, happy and well cared for. Once you choose your puppy, we will make sure it is properly vaccinated and shows optimal clinical signs to be transported safely. At the same time, you will benefit from a medical guarantee for viral diseases for which vaccination has been carried out (Parvovirus, Jigodie, Hepatitis, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis or Rabies) for a period of 5 days so that you have enough time to confirm the puppy's good health. For added safety, it is recommended that when placing your order you choose a puppy with multiple vaccinations, as this will give your puppy immunity so that it will not become ill from viruses or bacteria in the external environment.

All our puppies receive the necessary vaccinations and internal deworming according to their age, performed by the breeder or veterinarian.

Of course, we microchip all puppies if this has not been done by the breeder, and the microchip code will always be pasted into their health card. Registration in RECS will be completed as soon as you send us a copy of your ID.

This is possible. The identification and verification steps will be carried out by BucuriaCasei, you will indicate the desired specimen from the photos that will be sent to you so that the veterinarian can properly vaccinate the puppy, and then you will be sent the location so that you can personally pick up the chosen puppy.

You can cancel your order at any time by communicating your intention on WhatsApp, by phone or by email. The identification and verification procedures we carry out for each order involve proportionate costs, which is why the amount of the advance payment paid is non-refundable, except in the following situations:

  • the order is less than 7 days old;
  • the order exceeded by more than 30 days the estimate on the ordered breed page (for dogs without pedigree) or the deadline agreed upon order;
  • the order has exceeded by more than 30 days the 6 months term (for pedigree dogs) or the term agreed at the time of order.

Also, even if you fall into one of the points mentioned above, the refund will not be made in the following situations:

  • you have already chosen a puppy that I have reserved for you;
  • you have refused a specimen that was proposed to you, which is why the order fulfillment deadline is extended by the delivery estimate displayed on the ordered breed page.

If you are eligible for a refund of the advance, 20 lei will be deducted from the refunded amount, related to bank fees. It will be paid into the same bank account from which the payment was made, within a maximum of 14 days.
Submitting an order represents a commitment assumed by both parties.

The price consists of the advance payment of 10% which is paid at the time of sending the order and an estimate to be paid upon delivery. In our activity of identifying and verifying the puppies available in the country we will obtain results and photos that we will send you, accompanied by the price difference that you will pay upon receipt. In case the price sent is higher than the estimated one on the site and it does not represent any obligation to accept the offer, we will continue the checks at other breeders. Although we make efforts to regularly update the prices displayed on the site, they should be treated as information.

  • friendship, compassion, respect, responsibility;
  • have a higher level of self-confidence;
  • have better cognitive development;

  • therapeutic effects in the case of physical and mental disorders such as autism, depression, motor, sensory or intellectual disabilities.

Benefits of a Shar Pei in family life

The presence of a Shar Pei is good for everyone and over the years researchers have studied their effects in detail, including:

  • the stress level decreases and a sense of well-being sets in after at least 15 minutes of looking at or interacting with the dog;
  • dog owners have better physical condition, being more active people,
    they are friendlier, relate better to others, are more empathetic and more self-confident;
  • contributes to improving sleep quality, preventing cardiovascular problems, lowering blood pressure, maintaining cholesterol and triglyceride levels within normal limits;
  • during interaction with the dog, the level of oxytocin increases, a hormone associated with attachment that plays a role in consolidating the feeling of love and strengthening the attachment relationship;
  • Overall, people who live around dogs are happier and their quality of life increases in many ways.

Shar Pei for sale: breed

His name means "sandy skin." He's a solid mass of loose wrinkles, folds of skin that make him look like he's wearing a bulky, oversized suit. His tiny ears sit atop a large, powerful head with a short snout and purple tongue. The final point is a thick, round tail that curls down his back.

Certainly, the Shar Pei is an interesting-looking dog, and its looks are enough to make many owners choose this breed. But there's more to the Shar-Pei than its unique looks. This breed is calm enough that it can live in an apartment. This is an excellent guard dog, so he must be taught not to overreact to people and animals he doesn't know.

Early training is essential for the strong-willed Shar Pei. He needs an owner capable of firm leadership skills and tends not to respect an owner who does not.

It is a naturally clean dog and frequent bathing is not necessary or recommended. With all these wrinkles, he may be prone to skin problems, so more attention and care may be needed in that area.

The Shar Pei is not as popular as it used to be, which is actually good for the breed. Increased popularity leads to increased breeding, especially by unscrupulous breeders who breed without regard to health, temperament and conformation. Unfortunately, that's what happened to the Shar-Pei in the 80s. Responsible breeders have been working to regain the breed's faithful and loving temperament and to minimize or eliminate health problems.

Shar Pei for sale: brief history

The Shar Pei has its origins in the southern provinces of China, where it was prized as a hunter, herder, guardian and fighter. Some historians believe the Shar Pei is an ancient breed, although there is no definitive evidence to prove this. Statues that closely resemble the Shar-Pei have been dated to the Han dynasty (200 BC), although these statues also resemble Chow and Pug.

After the creation of the People's Republic of China, the country's dog population was virtually wiped out. However, a few Shar Pei were bred in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Thanks to Matgo Law, a small number of Shar Pei were brought to the United States in 1973, and fans of the breed formed the Shar Pei Club of America, Inc. in 1974. The first national specialty show was held in 1978. The Shar Pei was accepted into the American Kennel Club miscellaneous class in 1988 and recognized by the AKC in 1991 as a member of the non-sporting group.

Shar Pei for sale: size

Males and females are between 46-51 cm tall and weigh 18-25 kg.

Shar Pei for sale: personality

Shar Pei is an alert and independent dog. He is extremely devoted to his family, but aloof from people he doesn't know. He is said to enjoy the companionship of people more than dogs and likes to be with his owner at all times. A calm and confident dog, it seems to develop an intuitive understanding of its owner or family.

As devoted as he is, the Shar Pei is also independent and strong-willed. He is protective of his family, is an excellent guard dog and will respond to threats. Because he was once used as a fighting dog, he can be aggressive towards other canines.

Just like any dog, the Shar Pei needs early socialization, exposure to lots of people, sights, sounds and experiences when young. Socialization helps ensure that your pet will be a friendly and pleasant dog.

Shar Pei for sale: health

Shar Peas are generally healthy, but like all breeds, they are prone to certain health conditions. Not all dogs will have any of these diseases, but it is important to be aware of them if you are considering this breed.

If you are buying a puppy, find a good breeder who will show you the health records of the puppy's parents. Health certificates prove that a dog has been tested and recovered from a specific condition.

  • Shar Pei fever: this condition manifests in swelling of the carpal joint (sometimes both joints) and results in reluctance to move, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea and shallow breathing. Dogs have one or more bouts of unexplained fever, with temperatures as high as 39.4 to 41.6 degrees Celsius. The condition usually begins by 18 months of age, but can occur when the dog is an adult. The fever lasts 24 to 36 hours, and treatment includes fever and pain relief.
  • Hypothyroidism: this is a condition of the thyroid gland. It is thought to be responsible for conditions such as epilepsy, alopecia (hair loss), obesity, lethargy, hyperpigmentation, pyoderma and other skin conditions. It is treated with medication and diet.
  • Cancer: Symptoms include abnormal swelling and pain that doesn't heal, bleeding from the body and shortness of breath. Treatments for cancer include chemotherapy, surgery and drugs.
  • Elbow dysplasia: similar to hip dysplasia, it is also a degenerative disease. It is thought to be caused by abnormal growth and development, resulting in a malformed and weak joint. The disease varies in severity: the dog could develop arthritis or become lame. Treatment includes surgery, weight control, medical management and anti-inflammatory drugs.
  • Sarcoptic or demodectic mange: Also known as demodycosis, this is caused by the demodex mite. (The mite cannot be transmitted to humans or other dogs, only from mother to puppies.) Demodex mites live in hair follicles and usually don't cause problems, but if the Shar Pei has a weakened or compromised immune system, he can develop demodectic mange. In the localized form, red, scaly, bald patches of skin appear on the head, neck and forelegs.
  • Seborrhea: This is a condition characterized by flaky skin and a rancid smell. It is usually secondary to allergy, infection or other illness. Treatment includes bathing in special shampoo and treating the underlying condition.
  • Pyodermatitis: Another skin condition, this is a bacterial skin infection and is quite common in Shar Pei. It can be a primary or secondary infection, the latter resulting from an underlying condition such as allergies or hypothyroidism. Pyodermatitis is treated with antibiotics.
  • Patellar luxation: This is a common problem in small dogs that occurs when the patella, which has three parts – the femur (thigh bone), kneecap and tibia, is not aligned properly. This causes a limp or abnormal gait. It is a condition that is present at birth, although the actual dislocation does not always appear until much later. The friction caused by patellar luxation can lead to arthritis, a degenerative joint disease. There are four degrees of patellar luxation, ranging from grade I, an occasional dislocation that causes temporary dislocation of the joint, to grade IV, in which the tibia is severely out of place and the patella cannot be manually realigned. Severe degrees of patellar luxation may require surgery.
  • Hip dysplasia: This occurs quite frequently in Shar Pei. Many factors, including genetics, environment and diet, are thought to contribute to this hip joint deformity. Some dogs affected by this problem may be able to lead a normal, healthy life, but some may require surgery to move around easily.
  • Gastric torsion: is a life-threatening condition that can affect large, deep-chested dogs. This is especially true if they are fed one large meal a day, eat quickly, drink large volumes of water after eating, and exercise vigorously after eating. The condition is more common in older dogs. Blood pressure drops and the dog goes into shock. Without immediate medical attention, the dog may die. He may also be restless, depressed, lethargic and weak with a rapid heart rate. It's important to take your dog to the vet as soon as possible if you see these signs.
  • Osteochondritis dissecans : This orthopedic condition, caused by improper growth of cartilage in the joints, usually occurs in the elbows, but has also been seen in the shoulders. It causes painful stiffening of the joint, to the point where the dog is unable to bend its elbow. It can be detected in dogs as young as four to nine months of age. Overfeeding or using high protein foods can contribute to the development of this condition.
  • Cutaneous mycosis: Mucin is the substance in the skin that causes wrinkles. It acts as an adhesive when a dog is injured. Some representatives of the Shar Pei breed, however, have an excess of mucin, which causes it to form clear bubbles on the skin that can break and exhale. It can be associated with allergies and is treated with steroid therapy.
  • Glaucoma: Glaucoma is defined as increased pressure in the eye and can be found in two forms: primary, which is hereditary, and secondary, which is caused by decreased fluid in the eye due to other eye diseases. Symptoms include loss of vision and pain, and treatment and prognosis vary depending on the type. Glaucoma is treated surgically or with eye drops.
  • Entropion: This is the inward rolling of the eyelid, usually the lower eyelid, and is found in both eyes. The condition causes vision loss and irritation and generally occurs before a dog is one year old. Corrective surgery when the dog reaches adulthood is an effective treatment.

Shar Pei for sale: care

Shar Pei lives comfortably in the city or country. It does well in a confined space, such as an apartment, as long as it gets daily exercise. A yard isn't necessary, but it appreciates getting outside and stretching its legs. In general, the Shar Pei is quite happy just hanging out with its owner, wherever he may be.

Start training and socializing him the day you bring him home and commit to continuing the process throughout his life. He will need constant reinforcement as he is not naturally friendly with other dogs. He is generally eager to please and respond to training.

The best kind of socialization exercise is to take your Shar-Pei with you everywhere. This will help prevent him from becoming too shy or overprotective. As this breed can be aggressive towards other dogs, the Shar-Pei should be kept on a leash in public.

Shar-Pei is classified as a short-nosed breed, similar to Bulldog, Boxer, Pug. Their short noses make them extremely sensitive to heat, so they need to be kept indoors with fans or air conditioning in hot weather.

Shar Pei for sale: feeding

Recommended daily amount: 1.5 to 2.5 cups of high-quality dry food per day, divided into two meals. Note: How much an adult dog eats depends on size, age, build, metabolism and activity level. Dogs are individuals, just like humans, and not all dogs need the same amount of food. It almost goes without saying that an extremely active dog will need more food compared to a less active one. The quality of the dog food you buy also makes a difference - the better the food, the more nutrients and satiety it will provide, without you having to constantly check the bowl.

Shar Pei for sale: fur color and maintenance

A quintessential characteristic of the Shar Pei, second only to its folds, is its wiry coat. This can be in many colors, including solid black, cream, tan, red and blue. He sheds minimally.

While the Shar-Pei is a naturally clean dog with very little odor, he just needs a little grooming to look good. A thorough brushing once a week is enough to remove dead hair and dirt. It doesn't need to be bathed a lot, every 12 weeks unless it has rolled in mud. Frequent baths tend to irritate the skin.

Brushing and bathing are the easy parts of Shar-Pei grooming. The difficult but essential part is drying after a bath. If you don't completely dry his folds and wrinkles, you can expect a fungal infection. Wipe thoroughly between the folds with a dry towel to remove all the moisture.

Brush your Shar Pei's teeth at least two or three times a week to remove tartar buildup and the bacteria that lurks inside. Daily brushing is even better if you want to prevent gum disease and bad breath. Remove your nails once or twice a month. Start getting him used to being brushed and examined when he's a puppy. Frequently handle his paws and check his mouth. With a positive experience full of praise and rewards, you'll lay the groundwork for easy vet exams and other maneuvers when he's an adult.

Shar Pei for sale: relationship with children and other animals

The Shar Pei is a devoted and protective dog to his family, including children. To best teach him to get along with children, he should be raised with them, if he doesn't live with them, he should be exposed to children as he grows. Because it is such an independent breed, it is best suited to families with children 10 years and older who know how to treat a pet with respect.

As with every breed, however, you need to teach children how to approach and touch dogs and always supervise any interaction between them to prevent any biting. Teach your child never to approach the dog while eating or sleeping or to try to take the dog's food. No dog, however friendly, should be left unattended with a child. These dogs also tend to get on well with other pets in the house. They are not naturally aggressive. However, it is still important to keep up with socialization training with any dog to ensure that they remain comfortable in the presence of new pets and animals with whom they might interact.
